Profile

Photo Pascale et Frederic

Since its creation in 2006 by Frédéric Chartier and Pascale Dalix, Chartier Dalix architecture office has delivered about twelve buildings. Taking part in various international competitions, the office has attracted a lot of attention and has won various prizes, such as the Moniteur First Building in 2009, and the European prize for young architects, « 40 under 40 » in 2012. The workers’ hostel in Porte des Lilas, Paris, was nominated for the Équerre d’argent prize and the Mies van der Rohe Award, in 2014.
Recent winner of the international competition Réinventer-Paris on the Ternes-Villiers site, the office is in charge of significative public projects, such as the Courneuve railway station of the Grand Paris Express Train, the transformation of the Lourcine former military site in Paris (13th arrondissement), and private buildings, notably various tertiary operations and two hotels. Three construction works are currently being conducted: an office-buildings operation in the Paris-Batignolles urban development zone (Zone d’Aménagement Concerté), a logistical hub in Paris (19th arr.) and the restructuration of the Renault design pole in Guyancourt.
The multiplicity of programmes on which the office works simultaneously, as well as the diversity of practical solutions it provides form a set of reflections translating the evolution of the contemporary life conditions. This young team sees architecture as a constructed system combining poetry to the accommodation of life.

Office

Chartier-Dalix architectes is composed of 28 people. Through its projects, the office has worked on several types of programs and sites. Their projects reveal a marked sensitivity to the complexity of uses and contexts: they are always relevant, innovative and generous solutions in terms of both formal and programmatic consistency.
