We all dream of green city, in which multiple lifeforms will be able to develop harmoniously. A city favouring diversity and exchanges between citizens. A city which would provide an answer to the contemporary search for roots as well as for development. The rue Ordener project implements this will by combining varied and abundant greenery to a housing programme and a kindergarten, in a dense urban context. Our project is based on the conviction that animal and vegetal “colonisation” is possible in the city on all types of spaces (horizontal, vertical, undersides, overhangs, pillars, holes…). A living common thread participates to physically revitalising the plot by bringing various flows to its very heart. By placing the kindergarten at the back of the plot and housings on the sides, a whole environment comes to life through these everyday situations in which men and nature share spaces.
Within the framework of our reflection about Parisian gable walls representing a natural reserve suitable for biodiversity, we offer a compensatory intervention on this six-storey high wall where no additional construction is allowed. This measure aims to maintain on the plot the whole green surface removed by the buildings. Inspired from the formerly used Land Use Coefficient (Coefficient d’Occupation des Sols), we suggest to establish a ratio between the green surfaces and the whole plot surface, by a simple calculation. This new tool enables the integration of forlorn urban spaces to a global regulatory frame. It also implies a new way of considering the urban density and requires innovations regarding all kind of available surface for biodiversity.
