Transformation of the Guillot-Bourdeix tower
Housing, Office, Activity, Health
Lyon
FR
For the CIRC block and its emblematic tower, the Nouvelle AOM imagines a densification project that is reasoned and respectful of the environment. The aim is to promote the value of this existing built heritage by proposing new uses, opening up the block to the neighbourhood and restoring open-ground gardens to a currently very mineral site. The tower is a mixed-use building, with residential accommodation on the upper levels, business and retail premises at the foot of the tower, a third-party centre in the existing auditorium, and a restaurant and shared garden accessible to local residents at the top. The existing Latarjet building, renovated and enlarged, returns to the historic role of the district by housing a health centre. At the heart of the new block, an edible garden to the west and a clearing and wooded park to the east will blend in with the existing trees. A pedestrian walkway crosses the urban park, making it accessible to the people of Lyon. This new pathway is flanked by two new buildings that complete the block. Their lightweight, low-carbon design - wood structure, biosourced insulation and geosourced partitioning - encourages the use of local resources and recycled materials. They house residential accommodation, reversible offices and ground-floor shops.

On the edge of the Moulon district, the building is located on a very long site facing the 18 metro line. The building is divided into four volumes, creating garden courtyards that encourage views and a central atrium where the various users can meet. The complex is topped by a largely transparent base that houses common services and contributes to the vibrancy of the public space. The upper floors are home to a variety of actors - start-ups, scale-ups, public or private companies of different sizes - made possible by the reversibility of the floors into offices or laboratories. The design of the façade follows the internal grid, combining prefabricated concrete bands, wooden transoms and limestone trumeaux from the Paris Basin, whose profiles adapt to the orientation of the building. Finally, the exterior landscaping is inspired by local landscapes and the hydrographic network, while remaining part of the green fabric of the neighborhood. To the east, a large wooded forecourt opens up to the public realm and the metro. This flood-prone garden is home to an alder grove, a true piece of nature that evolves freely with the rains. In addition to the garden courtyards, a biosolar roof covers all the volumes.

The Garden of Dreams, a Franco-Australian peace garden
Landscape
Amiens
FR
At the foot of the ramparts of the citadel of Amiens, the Garden of Dreams pays tribute to the Australian troops who prevented the city from being taken during the First World War. The garden is a delicate voyage of discovery, with warm colors that change with the seasons. From the street, movement in the ground beckons visitors and guides them into the center. Paths of crushed brick and ochre sand echo both the red earth of the Australian bush and the ramparts of the citadel. On either side, islands of earth, held back by burnt pine palisades, rise from the ground, evoking the scars of war and the oppressive atmosphere of the trenches. Approaching the center, the topographical interplay becomes more pronounced and the paths become narrower, surrounded by increasingly dense vegetation. Finally, arriving at the heart of the garden, visitors are plunged into a subdued atmosphere of undergrowth, conducive to contemplation. In the center, under a canopy of sculptural treaes, seemingly inert rocks bloom with white flowers each spring.

Situated on the edge of the Courrouze district and facing the Rennes ring road, the project comprises two buildings and a silo parking lot.Its architecture is a proposed response to the challenges posed by the evolution of office buildings and is designed to support open-plan working methods. At the heart of the main building (which houses Arkéa's headquarters), a large atrium allows views to flow from one floor to the next while providing easy natural ventilation. As a meeting place, the corridors are wide and open to encourage informal exchanges between employees. The structurally unobstructed floors are extended outward by threaded balconies that wrap around each level, providing sun protection and ease of maintenance.Connected by cantilevered staircases, these courtyards are also spaces that can be appropriated for seclusion. The volume, marked by horizontal lines, is crowned by a roof that alternates between common rooms, terraces and gardens. The rational volumetry is a response to the urban principles of the district, but also an optimum for the development of a mixed wood-concrete structure, in which each material finds its place according to its intrinsic properties (inertia, load-bearing capacity, carbon weight).

In Kassel, we propose to widen the bed of the Ahne, a canalized river that connects different green spaces in the city, to make it a real park structuring the urban project. Porous and permissive, the new school is thought in its crossing dimension between park and forest. Organized in three main buildings to the south of the park, it radiates towards the large landscape entities: the nursery school and the nursery towards the forest to the east; the library towards the river to the west; and finally the elementary school and the specialized rooms towards the park to the north. An exterior gallery connects the three buildings and serves all the common spaces. A real signal and meeting place between the different classes, it contributes to the students' feeling of belonging to the same group. It’s also the starting point for a vertical ascent to the two planted roofs: a small wood on one, a vegetable garden and sports area on the other. Designed as a unifying and inclusive facility, the school is intended for all the inhabitants of the neighborhood. The first floors are open and reversible spaces - foyer, canteen, library, workshop - directly linked to the public space and able to host various events during extracurricular time.

As part of our participation in BAP2022, we present a pavilion with the Metropole du Grand Paris which is the first experience of a building based on the principle of a free standing biodiverse1 wall. Designed as part of on going research conducted by ChartierDalix for several years, this structure is both a massive load-bearing wall and a vertical ground, inhabited by fauna and flora. Telluric, compact and enveloping, it resembles a garden nursery that punctuates the promenade. The Pavillon oh the Métropole du Grand Paris, with its biodiversity wall, is an invitation to think together about the Metropolis of tomorrow where nature and the city could hybridize. The originality of this system lies in the continuity of a substrate network inside the self-supporting wall and in the thickness of its surface layer. The design of this network targets both the ecological continuity of a «living» substrate and the retention of water, in order to allow plants to develop there in a sustainable way, thanks to a large space dedicated to the systems roots.

Reconstruction of the school campus Bockmühle
Education, Sport, Activity
Essen
DE
The reconstruction of the Bockmühle campus in the Altendorf district is an opportunity for the City of Essen to acquire a new multi-purpose school facility combining teaching spaces with sports and cultural facilities open to the community. It is also a way of restructuring the whole of this part of the city around a unifying facility. We imagined three buildings that structure the site by delimiting two large green spaces: a new park open to the city to the east and a generous schoolyard planted in the heart of the newly created block. Gaps between the buildings ensure the complete porosity of the site, as the schoolyard is not enclosed. While the ground floor houses programmes intended for all inhabitants (libraries, community spaces, multi-purpose rooms), the upper floors are dedicated to teaching spaces, designed as large flexible floors surrounded by balconies and planted terraces. Each class thus has numerous spaces conducive to cross-curricular and decompartmentalised teaching (outdoor activities, inter-grade exchanges, etc.). The evacuation staircases are externalized and make it possible to multiply the possible circulation routes. The project thus becomes a real pedagogical tool for rich and stimulating teaching.

Housing and urban farm, Girondins district
Housing, Activity
Lyon
FR
Located at the entrance to this district in the process of transformation, the block is to be connected with neighbouring buildings already constructed and which constitute the beginnings of the new centrality of the Girondins. The programme of social and student housing is completed by a professional urban farm on the roof, run by an independent market gardener. More than a superimposition of layers, it is above all a question here of making these programmes cohabit to offer the inhabitants new ways of living through a common good. In this objective of making this building a productive place, the landscaped heart of the block offers breathing space while being a space of relaxation and leisure for the inhabitants. The block, which is largely open, provides the richness of a densely planted garden, supporting a vertical plant layer ensuring continuity and diversity of the ecosystem. The homes created all benefit from the same qualities - views, layout, relationship to the outside, orientation - and above all carry the common ambition of "living on an urban farm".

The Ariane tower upgrade project is part of a dialog with the existing tower's architectural and structural features, both to reveal it and to transform it into a 21st century tower. The program includes the renovation of the entire façade to improve its thermal and acoustic qualities, while respecting the architectural principles of Jean de Mailly's original 1975 design, as well as the redevelopment of the base's common spaces. Our goal is to preserve the legibility of the portholes and windows characteristic of this second-generation tower and to restore the original tripartite order - base, body, crown - lost during successive renovations. A new entrance pavilion and a business center on the first level of the base give the tower an active base open to the La Défense esplanade. The entrance pavilion, entirely glazed, has new functions: a waiting room and a bar opening onto a large hall. The activation of the base, which opens onto the public space, anchors the tower in its surroundings and offers users new living spaces.

As the gateway to the new Port district, the building is organised around a central void. It is at the same time a breathing space in the dense fabric of the block, a new passageway formalising a momentum of the city towards the canal and a place of circulation and privileged crossings between the two built entities constituting the new school. The transparent ground floor opens up visual perspectives and contributes to the animation and urban quality of the public spaces. The attention paid to the integration of vegetation guarantees the comfort of users, but also the inclusion of the building in a broader ecological design. Designed as an educational tool, the building offers students specific spaces to accompany them in their education. These spaces are arranged around circulation spaces designed as a third place for student life, offering informal work, meeting and sharing spaces.

Tara Tower

Dublin
IE
The close proximity of living, working and leisure spaces produces diverse neighbourhoods and contributes to the activity and dynamism of the city. In Dublin, the Tara Tower meets these conditions by offering multiple programs in a single building: coworking, foodhall, hotel and belvedere garden in the base, open to the street; housing and restaurant in the tower, open to the city. Located at the edge of the city centre and on the banks of the River Liffey, the Tara Tower is set on a narrow lot at the corner of a run down block. By keeping the massing of the traditional old fabric for the base and by raising the tower in a distinct language, the building asserts itself as an urban suture project between the historic centre and the new towers in the docklands. In contrast to the massive base in wood structure, the tower is clad in a double skin of accordion glass panels. Their movement allows for an infinite number of situations; the winter gardens are transformed into large balconies, the façade comes to life and evolves according to the day and the uses. This "buffer" space provides thermal comfort in summer and winter, while allowing each dwelling to have access to its own outdoor space. An interface zone between the different programs, the belvedere garden on the 6th floor extends over the entire rooftop of the base. A place to meet and relax, it stimulates experience and observation around nature.

The historic hospital complex of Saint Vincent de Paul is emblematic of the potential of adaptive reuse. The site is now undergoing a unique metamorphosis in Paris in terms of its development strategy and environmental innovation. The transformation of the old maternity ward into a “super facility” for the neighborhood is an opportunity to rethink this place so that it bears witness to its history, to develop a new project that allows for a diversity of users. By bringing together a school, a pre-school, a gymnasium, community spaces and workspaces, this multi-programming provides a new model of public facility that encourages plurality. We seek to encourage the collective by the versatility and the flexibility of the spaces throughout the day. Outside of school hours, the school library is made available to the community, the playground, the courtyard and the refectory are open to the public and almost the entire ground floor can be used to accommodate an open-air cinema or a book fair.

The mixed-use development is organized around the Méridia district square, an attractive new hub and a center of exchange for future users.Opposite each other, the two buildings we designed respond to each other on either side of the square, reinforcing the architectural identity of Nice by reinterpreting its codes. They are organized in volumes of different heights, connected by external gaps that allow views from the public space into the heart of the blocks, while giving rhythm to the linear facades. These gaps house the vertical circulations, naturally lit and ventilated, staging the ascent of the inhabitants in a journey punctuated by filters, as many thresholds of intimacy from the common space to the private. Most of the units are double or even triple, and all have wide balconies and full-height windows. Concrete is used here in a variety of finishes - smooth, sandblasted or glazed raw concrete - and the warm colors of the materials are reminiscent of those of the Nice palette.Last but not least, the buildings lining the square are covered with urban agriculture and offer a high walkway accessible to all.

As part of the river eco-district, Lot PA will contribute to the creation of a sociable neighbourhood. It will serve as a hostel for athletes during the 2024 Olympic Games and offer a mixed-use programme after the event. Characterised by a high morphological and typological density, the project comprises four residential buildings, an office building and ground-floor shops. Situated at right angles to the Seine, the strip-shaped buildings are the result of precise coordination. They form an architectural front facing the quayside, forming a visually coherent whole unified by large balconies. This line is interrupted by a series of landscaped intersections that alternate with the coloured minerality of the facades. Finally, the work on the layout accentuates the transition from the urban bustle of the quayside to the more intimate and domestic pedestrian heart of the block. Accentuated by a reduction in height, the buildings are punctuated by inhabited gaps, connected by lobbies, vertical circulation and landings. Each apartment has an outdoor space - balcony, terrace, conservatory - that can be used for a variety of purposes, and residents enjoy a large tree-lined communal terrace on the 5th floor of each building.

Nanterre
FR
The two buildings are integrated into the Groues district in Nanterre. The urban plan of this sector was designed by l’AUC: it alternates thin buildings and strip gardens, offering the dwellings optimal views and breathing space. The projects are linked by the common design of their base: a low-carbon concrete basement that accommodates double exposure duplexes (townhouses) and workshops linked to housing (Soho). We use the full potential of the strip layout to design all the dwellings as naturally ventilated, through spaces. To the south, the communal exterior walkways are organised in shaded corridors which extend into private balconies. One thus enters one's dwelling via the exterior space, which becomes an additional threshold between the common and the private. Above the base, the entire structure is built of wood. The joinery, shutters and cladding are also made of wood, making this project a building with a particularly low carbon footprint.

FR
The D5 block is the last parcel of the vast urban transformation of the ZAC Seguin Rives-de-Seine in Boulogne, developed on the site of the former Renault factories. ChartierDalix is building Renault's headquarters (a 60m high building) and is responsible for the overall coordination of the block, whose mixed-use buildings - housing and offices - are designed by the offices Bjarke Ingels Group, AAVP Architecture and ECDM Architectes. We have initiated, with these offices, a collective work which aims to ensure a strong coherence of the global project, qs opposed to a collection of objects. The aim is to take advantage of the exceptional qualities of the site, by increasing tenfold the advantages of working and living by the water and the park. The project organizes the buildings around three transverse strips linking the park and the Seine and ensuring the ventilation and transverse views through the block. The buildings are designed in successive layers that interact with this environment.

New Headquarters of the AP-HP
Office, Education
Paris 12
FR
The Saint Antoine AP-HP hospital can be considered a real city within a city. Autonomous in its functioning and open to the neighbourhood, it has gradually become denser over the last century. The new headquarters is located on a plot of land lined with buildings (including a ground floor + 10 storeys) and informally used as a relaxation area by the hospital's employees. Respecting this place means respecting the habits of the 3 400 employees who work on the site every day. The project is compact, does not affect the luminosity of the neighbouring buildings and frees up a planted core equivalent to 50% of the plot of land that will be accessible to all. An amphitheatre is placed under this new landscape topography. The triangular and radiating shape of the building generates three directions. The new headquarters does not turn its back on any neighbouring building and all the façades are treated with the same care. The glazing is generous and the balconies flow around it, providing a uniformity of light to the work spaces and spectacular views of the busy hospital, the garden and Paris from the top floors.

Logistic Center in the Ardoines district

Vitry-sur-Seine
FR
Logistics activities are playing an increasingly important role in the competitiveness of companies, particularly through the efficient management of circulation flows. The logistics centre must be highly functional and stimulate the production dynamic, renewing the company's image, while offering viable environmental solutions to its users and its urban context. The main challenge of this project was to imagine a warehouse building that would also be a rich, virtuous urban element integrated into its fabric. We chose to make the envelope a surface for exchange with the city - evolving and living - and the roof a planted surface dedicated to market gardening activities (one hectare of urban agriculture managed by a farmer).

Conceived as a new centre, the Sycomore district is articulated between industrial zones, residential areas and an agricultural landscape. At the entrance to the new district, the project brings together two apartment blocks facing the Boulevard des Cent Arpents and single-family houses arranged in strips around a landscaped heart of the block. Built on a unifying base of textured concrete, the apartment buildings share the same qualities: large openings and long balconies offer generous outdoor spaces and permissive uses. The facades are clad with fine galvanised steel fittings that support the suspended balustrades and accentuate the thickness of the occupied facade. From the boulevard, a wide pedestrian walkway leads to a network of planted alleys leading to the individual houses, which are set back from the streets by a plant filter. Each house has its own open-air garden and private parking space. Each house has its own open-air garden, screened from view by tall trees, and the largest types benefit from a top floor terrace. Constructed in a mixed timber/concrete structure, the complex uses a limited number of materials to ensure sobriety and clarity of construction.

Metamorphosis of the Montparnasse Tower

Paris 15
FR
Finalist among the 700 entries in the international competition for the transformation of the Montparnasse tower, the Nouvelle AOM (ChartierDalix, Franklin Azzi Architecture, Hardel Le Bihan Architectes) has taken up residence in the offices on the 44th floor of the tower. This research and architectural design laboratory dedicated entirely to the project has enabled the team to understand all the issues involved in this metamorphosis. This restructuring is based on programming and the development of attractive uses throughout the tower's verticality: from the 120,000 m² of redeveloped infrastructure to the agricultural greenhouse at the top, including a garden on the 16th floor and a hotel on the 42nd. In 2024, the new Montparnasse tower will be emblematic of Paris' energy transition: a de-asbestosified and rehabilitated tower, low-carbon, passive, which uses the geometry of the existing building to recover the force of the wind at high altitudes and allow natural ventilation of all the interior spaces (this is the "wind façade"). A light and transparent tower, open to the outside and anchored in the life of the neighbourhood.

This building with multiple programmes completes a pre-existing urban ensemble by filling in residual and undefined spaces, in order to create a mixed urbanity. Integrating the first levels into the programme, the project recomposes a coherent whole with built elements separated by five generous planted patios and a roof garden. These places of life and exchange benefit the users of the offices as well as all the local residents, creating an inhabited landscape in front of the panorama of the Parisian rooftops and the Montmartre hill. The patios punctuate the whole building and create a subtle play of transparencies allowing the depth of the built volume to be grasped while offering varied perspectives.

The Le Touzet tertiary campus completes a district that is undergoing major changes around the redevelopment of the Porte Pouchet and the ring road. Through a play of flexible forms, whose curves generate surprising views and urban situations, the complex distinguishes itself from its neighbours by its uniqueness of treatment with a kinetic character and its presence exuding a quiet power. This strong identity finds its appeasement in a play of epannelages, withdrawals and inflections which allow the project to be connected to its immediate environment, in a fine seam with the neighbouring buildings. This weaving of buildings offers new uses, reinforces the feeling of common, and encourages working differently through its generous terraces and double-height loggias. At its heart, it allows a real three-dimensional landscape to exist.

In the heart of a very lively neighbourhood with a heterogeneous fabric, the building is in keeping with and respects the Haussmanian template. Its open and changing façade however announces a different way of living in the city in a collective building. Entirely made up of winter gardens extended by balconies, it ensures a layered and dynamic transition between the interior and the exterior, the private and the public. The shared interior garden and the planted roofs are other additional provisions for the building's inhabitants.

The Hôtel Bourg Tibourg is a singular place, welcoming its visitors in the heart of the Marais in an intimate universe isolated from the surrounding urban intensity. As part of the extension of the rooms and the restructuring of the common areas, we are extending this existing charm with a new game of discreet vis-à-vis, of filters that hide and reveal. A full height trellis takes place on one of the facades of the luxuriant exterior patio. The metal work is inlaid with unique blown glass elements and hosts a vertical garden, it is inspired by stained glass or moucharabieh windows to reveal only what needs to be revealed. In order to work with what is already there, we have designed the new suites in the continuity of the existing universe. The smoked oak wood of the floor and wall envelops the room in a precious and warm setting. The few elements in black lacquer, leather or polished glass reveal their details and each material for their own shapes and natural nuances.

The choice of a layout with individual plots stems from the desire to open up the block to the public space: it allows having landscaped openings towards the heart of the plot. The reduced size of these plots (15m on average) allows for the creation of an intermediate level between the existing small scale residential fabric to the west and the collective housing buildings planned for the new district to the east. This reduced size makes it possible to offer units with double or even triple orientations, most of which have corner living rooms opening onto loggias. By offering different types of open spaces (planted terraces, gardens, accessible roofs, balconies), the project offers a wide variety of uses and atmospheres.

The façade along the Ourcq Canal is an emblematic window on the city. This exceptional situation benefits both from the landscape and the very largely glazed housing. All of the buildings on the periphery of the block have an appearance consistent with the spirit of the industrial buildings of the early 20th century: the large continuous windows, the brick skin, the recesses on the upper floors and the cut-offs at the corners are part of a familiar history. The large site is opened up to the heart of the block from the streets to create visual escapes and breakthroughs: a strong visual connection between the interior green spaces and the street has been intentionally made clear. Within the depth of the site, townhouses give a domestic scale to the whole.

In the dense urban fabric of Paris’ 11th arrondissement, which is still characterised by traces of its artisanal past, this project marks a meeting point between two city histories. The cross-block plot links two narrow streets in one direction, and little neighbouring courtyards in the other. A “mini” nursery is located at ground level and its garden opens views to the Popincourt passage, creating an urban transparency between the two streets. A second garden area, created one level higher, is for the residents’ use, who access their units along densely-planted exterior walkways.

The Lourcine barracks, located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, is organised around a parade ground with its military buildings built in 1875. The programme from the University of Paris I called for the installation of: library, amphitheatre, classrooms and offices which we located in the old buildings and basements. The project aims to enhance the value of this Parisian heritage through an intervention that is compatible with the existing structures. We seek to adapt the programme and its new uses to the site, and not the other way around. The aim is for the new project to maintain its own identity while taking care not to erase the traces of the past. The Place d'Arme retains its unifying and symbolic function, and is sloped into a landscaped forecourt highlighting the new access to a gallery and the amphitheatre. The reading rooms and classrooms are integrated into the existing building by using all the potential of its spatial qualities (ceiling heights and noble materials).

The space of the hall of La Courneuve is crossing, thus creating a relationship between the city and the interior, and a dialogue between the existing site and the new station: the hall becomes an integral part of the urban space. The vaulted first floor creates a remarkable space, like the large halls of the former stations, true gateways to the city. Reinterpreted in a more contemporary way by its alcoves that frame the space, the vault of the station hall opens up in front and constitutes an easily identifiable element on the Six Roads traffic circle. In the continuity of the industrial past of La Courneuve, we propose to use brick as an identifying material, with its different possibilities of implementation: wall, vault, clear way.

Offices facing the Bassins à flot
Office, Activity
Bordeaux
FR
Located in the Bassins à flot district, a former port site, this office development has the particularity of accommodating shops on the ground floor and 70 parking spaces in the heart of the building (which are invisible from the street). The building is made up of three strips: an "urban" strip linked to the street, a strip linked to the "great landscape", facing the docks, and a central strip, which accommodates the outdoor spaces and in particular a common patio on the first floor. In the spirit of the site's industrial past, the building is clad in zinc, a raw material that covers the roof and facade while providing varied nuances to the twin buildings. Each of them is overlooked by an 8-storey tower which finishes in a lookout offering 360° views. The proportion of glazing and occultations vary according to the orientation of the main façades, allowing for optimal comfort of the work spaces and unobstructed views.

Offices in structural wood, Montjoie district
Office, Activity
Saint-Denis
FR
Located in the Montjoie district, this office building stretches across the diagonal of its site avoiding any direct views onto its neighbors. This layout gives way to two large open-air gardens that offer significant wooded areas overlooking the adjacent streets. One of the two gardens is bordered by a linear gallery, a bioclimatic space for walking and meeting which connects the various amenity spaces of the building. The project is constructed with a structural wood structure left exposed on the inside, which combines the strong identity of an innovative working space with that of an ecologically responsible construction.

FR
The new design centre embodies Renault's ability to evolve its methodology by decompartmentalising the various integrated professions while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality. The aim is to stimulate creativity and efficiency while adapting the project to the context of the original building. Inaugurated in 1996, the Renault Technocentre in Guyancourt currently employs around 12,000 people and is the largest research and development centre in France. The R*Generation project plans to rethink the work spaces for the entire design centre. We start from the premise that a workplace today can no longer be limited to being just a "setting" but must also be designed as a working tool in its own right. We emphasise the concepts of active confidentiality and co-visibility on the one hand, and on the other, the search for a domestic identity, by creating situations of intimacy and proposing places of refocusing. The notions of comfort, pleasure and exchange are thus conducive to research and creation.

Offices along the railways, Clichy-Batignolles district
Office, Activity
Paris 17
FR
The office building designed in the Batignolles district, Paris 17th, is based on a topographical reflection on the scale of the city: positioned above of the void of the railway tracks to the Saint-Lazare station, the building participates in the topographical rupture of this part of the city. At this point, Paris presents a rugged industrial landscape, a relief with large depths and vast empty spaces. This urban geography, a sort of morphological accident of the Anthropocene, inspires the volumetric variations of the building. With its "ribbon" plan, it offers the rails, the street and the park an open façade in response to this large landscape context. Thus, in the manner of a Möbius strip, the exterior and interior spaces intermingle on all sides of the building, allowing a fluidity of use and visual continuity from the exterior, from the ground floor to the roof.

Tafanel logistics hub

Paris 18
FR
Located opposite the Centquatre cultural facility and hemmed in between the rue d'Aubervilliers and the tracks of the Gare de l'Est, the Tafanel company's logistics centre is designed as an artificial landscape composed of a large pleated sheet forming a succession of sheds with changing directions. On the street side, a 450-metre long linear front façade faces the existing heterogeneous buildings on the street. It is composed of reinforced glass on which is superimposed a pleated anodised aluminium skin. This stratification, of which a pre-existing blind wall - a support for urban art - constitutes the first layer, becomes a mirror that reflects the city and the changing lights throughout the day. On the side of the railway tracks, the rhythm of the roof is cadenced by the folds that descend into the façade, multiplying the effect of acceleration/deceleration and offering a kinetic vision to travellers passing by.

The plot is located in the heart of a central district of Saint-Denis in a context that mixes some extremes from the surrounding buildings (heritage buildings and run-down housing stock). Facing the Carmelite monastery, the project rises in successive withdrawals in order to attenuate the face-to-face relationship with the cloister, by gradually distancing the facades. This allows the majority of the flats to have outdoor spaces and multiplies the double orientations. A break in the rue des Carmélites creates a visual breakthrough into the heart of the block and links it with the Carmelite gardens, thus ensuring a real landscape continuity between the two plots.

The Moulins secondary school in Lille is a building-landscape that radiates and interacts with its environment: carried by the context and in close connection with the city, its geography unfolds in a ring around a central courtyard facing south. Two parts stand out: the ground floor, which is animated for pedestrians and plays with transparency while delimiting the facility's footprint; the upper part, treated as a topography that makes it possible to identify the three fundamental elements of the programme: the secondary school, the sports hall and the boarding school. This whole complex is unified by a single skin of pre-weathered zinc.

An innovative design process produced a building that combines two project elements into a “living” whole, designed to play host to a diversity of flora and fauna. The challenge was to create a roof-level ecosystem: untamed nature blending with the texture of its residential perimeter. The answer is fluidity, creating links between volumes and voids, drawing contour lines to keep discontinuities to a minimum. The building becomes a piece of extruded terrain, an elevated landscape where a sheltered native habitat – the urban canopy – can freely evolve, protected by humanity. It is a process of natural development that will take time. The building’s appearance is subject to the laws of nature.

The Rosalind-Franklin school in Ivry-sur-Seine is organised as a landscape of successive planted terraces. This layout orients the entire facility to the south, providing maximum sunlight to the courtyards and classrooms. The fluidility of the plan offers multiple orientations, as well as numerous views of the courtyards and planted terraces. In the northeast corner - the more urban part - the student residence building is arranged so as not to overshadow the courtyards. It is a compact nine-storey building envelopped by a double skin of exterior spaces and solar shading.

Positioned at the end of the 20ᵉ arrondissement, Porte des Lilas, the building stands out for its slenderness and texture. Bringing together several programmes, it fits into a typical Parisian volumetry by the recess of its upper floors. Covered with a mineral skin of black brick, the monolith is cut along two fracture lines that reveal a precious interior. These two moments of rupture have an effect both on the urban level and from the point of view of use. The first is horizontal, formed by an open third floor, and brings together all the common programmes (media library, sports hall, etc.) arranged freely on this plateau overlooking the city. The second cut is a vertical gap that brings natural light into all horizontal and vertical circulation. The collective spaces at the heart of the building are thus bathed in light and open panoramically to the urban landscape.
